Bhubaneswar: A government engineer in Odisha has been taken into custody by the Vigilance department on charges of accumulating wealth beyond his legitimate income sources, according to official reports.
N Dillip Kumar Choudhury, who serves as the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) for the Road and Building Division-I in Berhampur, was arrested following the discovery of significant disproportionate assets linked to him.
During the investigation, officials uncovered a double-storey property valued at Rs 1 crore and a flat worth Rs 50 lakh in Berhampur. Additionally, another flat in Bhubaneswar was appraised at Rs 1 crore, along with 11 plots in Berhampur and surrounding areas, collectively estimated to be worth around Rs 2 crore.
Moreover, the search revealed bank and insurance deposits totaling nearly Rs 30 lakh, along with two motorcycles and household items valued at over Rs 16 lakh.
The Anti-corruption Department has initiated legal proceedings against Choudhury.
